Graduate & Intern Programmes
Graduate programmes
In 2011 we launched brand new graduate and intern programmes that proved so successful that we're increasing our intake of fresh talent for 2012 across our business.
We have opportunities available around the London area including central London, Bromley and Croydon – each offering a very competitive salary, benefits package and excellent training opportunities, including sponsorship to gain professional qualifications. Although our current programmes are closed for applications, they do reopen on 3rd September 2012. If you’d like to be one of the first to hear about our 2013 programmes, click here to register your details.
What graduates can expect
Our two-year graduate programme offers you an incredible opportunity to be part of our future as we prepare to shake up the industry with a new vision, strategy and brand – Direct Line Group. With so much to get involved with, we’ll expect you to hit the ground running.
To help you get off to a great start, all graduates take part in an intensive two-week induction and ‘business boot camp’ before starting with their teams. This intensive induction will teach you everything you need to know about our organisation and the business area you’re joining. You’ll also have your own buddy and line manager, as well as the chance to attend regular training courses to continue evolving your business knowledge. And, if you want to study towards relevant professional qualifications, we’ll support you to achieve this goal too.
In 2012 we offered graduate programmes in one of three business areas, each with a range of placements to suit your individual interests and requiring a specific set of ideal skills. Please visit the specific page to find out more:
- Analytics (Pricing & Underwriting and Actuarial)
- Chief Operating Office
- Commercial (Management and Analytical)
Application Details:
- Applicants must have a 2.1 or 1st class degree (if you’re still studying we’ll look at your predicted grade) and a minimum of 300 UCAS points achieved at A-level
- All our programmes require graduates to have good numeracy skills although some areas place greater emphasis on this than others
- Applications for the 2013 intake open on 3rd September 2012 (Click here to register)

Interns
Our eight-week summer internship programme is open to ambitious, penultimate year undergraduates and offers a taste of what we provide as a potential graduate employer.
You’ll be placed in one team for the duration of the programme and assigned a project that culminates in a presentation to the executive board. We’ll also pair you up with a buddy and a dedicated line manager to support and guide you on day-to-day tasks and gaining a well-rounded insight into the work we do in your chosen area.
