Learning and Development

A number of tools have been developed to help individual employees to choose the most appropriate learning method for them.

Access2Learning

Access2Learning (A2L) is the Group's online learning portal, which provides employees with access to their training and personal learning information.

A2L allows users from within the Group access to learning that supports technical, personal, and professional development. It allows employees to select materials which best support their preferred learning methods, development aims and location. Learning options include web based training courses, access to workshops and classes, books, videos, CD ROMS and distance learning courses.

Professional Qualifications

Bespoke Education Programmes include a Diploma in Customer Relationship Management and an Applied Diploma in Corporate Banking.

Secondments and Placements

In support of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group's secondment policy individual business unit managers, may consider secondments for individuals wishing to develop their career within the Group, particularly where the exposure to new environments, cultures and situations will bring the greatest benefits back into the business and your personal development.

MBA Sponsorship

The Group may offer sponsorship to those staff who meet the criteria for MBA programmes. Decisions to offer sponsorship are held at Managing Director level within the business.

Work Based Learning

The Royal Bank of Scotland Group is willing where appropriate to support the achievement of Vocational Qualifications (VQ's). VQ's offer benefits to employers and employees alike in providing comprehensive training to the highest sector requirements, and equipping staff with the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to deliver new services across new channels.

Professional Development website

The Professional Development website provides employees with educational guidance and support for all aspects of internal and external Life-Long Learning and the development aspects of Corporate Citizenship. The Professional Development team are custodians of the Group Education Sponsorship Policy; Community Learning, including The Prince's Trust and Face to Face with Finance; Investors In People and other regulatory requirements.

Group Education Sponsorship Policy

The Royal Bank of Scotland Group is able, via its businesses, to provide financial assistance to support staff undertaking professional or vocational qualifications, where these can be seen to provide a clear business benefit as well as improved performance of the member of staff.

Performance Management Cycle

Every employee at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group should have at least one formal review during the year. During this review, you will discuss and agree your objectives for the year, and identify the tools and processes that will help you to achieve these objectives. During the year your performance should be developed and measured against these objectives.
